House on Washington Coast

Owner: Donna and Riley Shirey

Currently in construction, the project includes a main house, viewing tower, carriage house, and an intimate courtyard with trellises and a fire pit. The new town of Seabrook is set in natural surroundings on the rugged Washington Coast.

Based on New Urbanism principals, the town includes shops, cafes, and stores within a short walk. Cars park in carriage houses on back lanes. Walking paths and parks promote a unique sense of community.

Sustainable features include rain water harvesting, energy-efficient appliances and heating system, and structural insulated panel system (SIPS) floors, walls, and roofs. The Shireys are long-time proponents of SIPS panel construction for the strength, and for the extremely high thermal efficiency these panels provide as a thermal envelope.
